How to Search Kentucky Jail Roster Records

Start your search by gathering basic information about the person you are looking for. You will need at least a last name to use most online systems. Additional details like first name, date of birth, or approximate booking date will help narrow results. Kentucky provides multiple ways to find inmate information.

For statewide searches, use the KOOL system first. This covers all state prisons and most county jails. If you cannot find the person there, check individual county jail websites directly. Some smaller counties take longer to update their records in the state system.

If online searches do not work, call the jail directly. Most detention centers have staff available during business hours to provide inmate information. Be prepared to provide the person's full name and date of birth. Some facilities limit the information they provide over the phone.

You can also visit facilities in person during visiting hours. Most jails require valid photo identification. Check visitation schedules before you go, as these vary by facility and housing unit. Some facilities require appointments scheduled in advance.

Note: Never use jail roster information to harass inmates or their families. Misuse of this information is a criminal offense punishable by law in Kentucky.
